Breastmates is a New Zealand based online boutique specializing in lingerie for the mommy to be, and nursing lingerie as well as breast pumps, nursing pads and more. The company was started by Frances McInnes in 2004 after giving birth to her first son Angus. She dcided that she would use wool for the pads to help with leaks during breastfeeding and after. She noticed that this was a part of the market that had very little attention.

After some research and development, Fances created pure merino breast pads as well as Hemp pads for all natural products. As there were very few, if any stores that catered to the new yummy mummy (I love this term) and mommy to be in New Zealand and few on the world market, the Breastmates brand was born.
